How I cope/manage completing the three days of “Life of a Teacher” through practicing patience, implementing different classroom management tools and strategy, maintaining determination, and using my ‘stare’, which I use when the learners does not listen to me, I would just stare at them, which actually did work. Taking on all the responsibilities of a teacher in Block 1 compared to Block 2 was not as different as what I thought it would be. I thought that Block 2 would have been more difficult than Block 1, but I found that it was the same. I think that the fact that I had to take over the teacher’s class for a whole week, made it easier for me to navigate the ‘life of a teacher’ days.

The activities I found most challenging was taking over the teacher’s class for a whole week, in the first week of the second Block. I was nervous but I was determined to show that I can handle a difficult challenge, and I notice that I can think ‘quick on my feet’ and I feel that I have improved my preparation skills. I also had to break-up a fight that irrupted in class. I first asked the learners to stop fighting but They carried on and became physical, so I stepped in between the learners, took them outside, and asked them why they fought. For the results of my self- evaluation survey, I think I will keep the results the same as I surprised at how I was able to control the learners and the learning environment.

The only improvements I would make of these competencies through this experience, is to remember to breath and keep a ‘cool head’ whenever a problem occur. Looking at the final comments of my mentor teacher, made me more confident in my ability to rate myself as a teacher and that I know there my strengths lies and where I should improve on. I think that I am ready to teach my own class.
